Repair of Concrete Bridge in Marine Environment
This paper presents the procedure used in assessment, evaluation, diagnosis and design of prestressed concrete bridge structures damaged by steel corrosion. The bridge located in a marine environment has shown severe damages after 23 years. The damages have been investigated in three steps: visual prospecting, detailed testing of representive locations and laboratory investigation of microstructure. The question of representative number of tests is discussed. The effects of the climatic conditions and structure and composition of concrete on the degree of damage had been identified. The experimental results were compared to the theoretical values, and the latter ones were used in the design of remedial works. four types of repair works were applied depending on the degree of damage, accessibility of structural part, repleaceability and structural reasons. High performance concrete and mortars have been applied in remedial works.
