MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF BLOOD FLOW THROUGH THE AORTIC VALVE
A model of the aortic valve opening and closing that could predict negative aortic flow is proposed. The proposed model has been applied to the measured data in man and pig. Time varying aortic valve orifice shows two closing phases: a slow one followed by the rapid one, like in experimental observations. The model indicates that the leaflets coapt before the maximal back flow occurs.
