Influence of some kinematic parameters to the pole vault results
The total understanding of the entire problem of pole vault demands, among other things, constant advancement of biomechanic knowledge in the performance area of the event and respect of biomechanic rules. According to the previous statements, kinematics analysis of pole vault movement consider a precisely defined space, time and space-time magnitude, and relations between motion in the structure of this athletics discipline movement. The goal of this research is to determine relations between some kinematics parameters and the results in pole vault. A research approach that studies an athlete-individual (case study) has been used. While processing the result, basic statistic parameters have been calculated and regression analysis has been applied. In this research one of the leading Croatian junior pole vault jumper has been tested at a chronological age of 18 years. In accordance to the aimed problem of the research, 13 kinematics parameters have been measured. Accomplished values of kinematics parameters in the final measurement differ from the values accomplished in the initial measurement. In both cases, the results of regression analysis indicated that there is a significant multiple connection between prediction variables and resultinf efficacy in pole vault which can be refered to the level of advancement in the technique. Both in the first measurement (Zagorac et al, 2008) and in the second measurement, only one parameter appeared as a relevant index of efficacy in pole vault (M% - maximum bending of the pole). It can be concluded that the relations between predictions and criteria remained the same in both cases. A higher result efficacy has been accomplished in the second measurement due to the better overall preparation of the jumper and appropriate technical embracement of parts of the jump as well as the whole pole vault technique. It is recommended that these case studies be repeated with altered characteristics when registering parameters of the jump (higher pole, increased firmness, higher grip, longer approach).
