Defending Analyticity: Remarks on Williamson’s The Philosophy of Philosophy
The paper is analyzing Williamson’s idea endorsed in his The Philosophy of Philosophy that the understanding-assent link does not hold even for paradigmatic cases of analytic statements such as: “Vixens a female foxes”. After a critical analyses of such a view, the conclusion is that - if we were to embrace such a theory - fundamental questions such as: “How do we know that vixens are female foxes?” would devoid of an appropriate answer.
