Influence of risk factors on the quality of mother-child interaction
Contemporary researches in neuroscience and neurobiology have shown that early mother-child interaction experiences are recorded in brain and influence on number and quality of nerual connections developed in early life. Mother-child interaction is also influeced by numerous biopsychosocial factors. This work presents the influence of the difficulties in child`s development on the level of parental stress and on the level of mother`s satisfaction with marriage. Methods: Research was carried out on the basis of two samples of examinees. First sample was made of 60 mother-child diads where the risk for emergence of difficulties in development was high, and the other sample was made of 60 mother-child diads without risk factor in children. In the research participated mothers with children from 1 to 36 months of age. The influence of child`s risk factor presence on the level of parental stress and satisfaction of mothers with marriage was examined. Results: Mothers of children with present risk factors have assessed the quality of marriage as unsatisfactory and the stress level was higher compared with mothers whose children do not have risk factors. Conclusion: Quality of marriage and support from partner has an important impact on stress level in mothers and on the quality of mother-child interaction.
