Simulation of Industrial Microwave Treatment in Water and Oil Repellent Finishing
A device for planar treatment of textile materials has been constructed and patented, at TTF. Results of oil- and water- finishing efficiency obtained at planar microwave apparatus have been compared with the ones obtained with conventional curing treatment. For the first time simultaneous drying and curing processes modelling have been conducted with electromagnetic waves at planar microwave device. With the implementation of microwave technology in the field of oil- and water- repellency equally good effects have been observed as with the conventional curing at tenter frame. Only in the case of durability to washing procedure cotton material treated with microwaves has shown significant decrease. Lower effects, primary caused by deorientation of fluorocarbon (FC) chains, have been improved with thermal activating performed after the washing and dry cleaning. Greatest advantage of constructed microwave device is lower production cost and elimination of separate drying procedure in a case of thicker material. In this way, conventional treatment that might cause uneven effects is eliminated.
