The Role of Technology in Assesment of Shopping Center Location
Shopping center location is one of the key issues in achieving long term competitive advantage in shopping centre industry. Since it cannot be challenged by competitors in the short run, a location can provide economic profits for years to come. Various models were developed during the last 80 years that aided managers in their decicisions. The latest solutions rely heavily on the use of technological advances, that is, the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as the primary tool for assessing potential shopping centre location.
