Computational Modelling of Twill and Satin Woven Structure
The mechanical performance of the textile structures is substantial for their application field. Therefore the mechanical analysis of the textile structures aiming at the prediction of the performance constitutes a basic requirement for the textile community. The structural complexity presented even in the conventional textiles relatively to the fibre assemblies as far the yarn formations incurs an increased difficulty in the representation and analysis of the textile structures. Thus several modelling stages are required for the simulation of a complex deformation of the textile structures. The current study focused in the stage of the micromechanical analysis of the fabric unit cell. Two structures were considered for the analysis, the twill and 5-satin woven structures. The Finite Element Method was implemented for the simulation of the tensile and shear deformations.
