Spectral simulations of CO molecular emission observed in inductively coupled radio frequency plasmas
Detailed spectral simulations of the CO molecular emission observed in the spectral region from 250 nm to 800 nm were performed. Four main spectrally overlapping electronic transitions were observed in that region assigned as the 3rd positive band – b 3a 3 (250 nm – 370 nm) and the Angstrom band – B 1A 1, the Asundi a’ 3Σ+ – a 3Π and Triplet (d 3Δ –a 3Π) overlapped bands from 350-900 nm. The quality of theoretical potential curves and dipole transition moments was tested by comparing spectral simulation to the observed molecular bands. Rotational and vibrational temperatures were extracted from simulations for various experimental observations. Spectral ranges suitable for spectroscopic monitoring were identified and discussed in respect to the spectral resolution available for the experimental observations.
