Fatal accidents during recreation at sea
An increase in the sport-recreational activities at the sea, such as windsurfing, jet-skiing or pedaling, raises concern about an increase in associated injuries, what is aggravated from time to time when a lethal fatality occurred. The several death cases, recently happened in Split-Dalmatian County as a result of using the different types of water requisites, are presented. We underline the importance of recognition the circumstances which are equivalent to the level of knowledge of water enthusiasts and of non-estimation the hazards on the sea. Possible safety recommendations include age regulations, specific training and supervision, operating regulations and inspection controls, as well as improvements in design of equipment and required protection device use. In this context it is more then well-coming the proposal of a new Law about giving services in tourism which is foreseen to be presented in the Croatian Parliament in autumn 2006.
