Quartz font - Trepča

During the investigation on the scanning electron microscope at the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science in Zagreb, in the insoluble remnants of marble samples from Trepča mine, Kosovo, micrometer crystals of quartz were found. Most of the crystals are in fact agglomerations of several more or less broken crystals. They are characterized by dominant forms in the crystallographic c axis zone. Randomly intergrown crystals form easily recognized letters all of Latin alphabet as well as Arabic numerals. All letters have been shown in the exhibition as well as an image representing the authors of the exhibition. The author’s figures are also represented by randomly intergrown letters of crystals of quartz. So, the diversity of intergrowths of crystals of quartz can be seen thorough this exhibition. But nevertheless, these are not all intergrowths that were found in the course of investigating Trepča mining area. Several random intergrowths can be seen in the monography Trepča , Stari Trg by Vladimir Zebec, which is to be published in a short period. Monography is a result of continuous scientific and museological interest of Vladimir Zebec, which lasted several decades, for the phenomena of Trepča mining area.
