The influence of the elements of the collective attack tactics on handball match outcome
The prevalence and influence of collective attack tactics elements on handball match outcome have been analyzed in 90 matches of First Croatian Handball League for men during the season 1998/99. The sample of variables was presented with 19 elements of collective attack tactics which were used to describe duration, continuity, system, organization and spatial direction of the attack. Statistically significant influence of prediction variables system on the game result was determined by regression analysis. Both on the sample of winning and losing teams, variables that described prolonged interrupted position attack against organized defense had exceptionally negative contribution to the match outcome, as opposed to variables that described short and quick attack such as counterattack and prolonged counterattack. These variables achieved positive influence on the sample of winning teams, although not on the level of statistical significance. The research results also pointed to the fact that it is not possible to single out any system or organizational aspect of the attack against organized defense which would dominantly influence the score efficiency.
