Innovation in a food sector as a mainstay of the Croatia's identity
Innovation may be defined as a generation and application of new ideas and skills to produce new products, processes and services that improve economic and social prosperity. Also innovation could be defined as “deliberative processes by firms, governments and others that add value to the economy or society by generating or recognizing potentially beneficial knowledge and using such knowledge to improve products, services, processes or organizational forms. These improvements may be specific to the entity, to the industry, country or world, and could be incremental or novel”. For example, for food industry innovation is a combination of product value with elements of service, wellbeing of consumers, convenience and acceptable (low) product price. As far as education and research and innovation are concerned, there is definitely a shared vision within and beyond Europe, which means, also in the Republic of Croatia – everyone agrees that only more investment in these areas can turn our economies round in a sustainable way.
