Properties of concrete with components from waste tyre recycling
Huge amount of waste tyres and their long term decomposition in surroundings have a negative effect on environment. EU Directive 1999/31/EC encourages recycling of waste tyres instead of using them as energy source. By recycling waste tyres and reusing obtained components, it is possible to reduce emission of gaseous effluents into the atmosphere, decrease the amount of existing and new quantities of waste tyres and reduce the amount of the waste on damp sites. The paper gives an overview of the possible utilisation of all components from recycling waste tyres in concrete technology. Each recycling component is used to prepare concrete for targeted use so no further waste substance is left behind. Their influence on mechanical, durability and acoustic properties of concrete is described. Obtained results represent the possibility of successful application of all components from recycling waste tyres in concrete for tailored application, where the final product is economically and environmentally interesting alternative to conventional concrete.
