Sum-connectivity Index

In this report, we present a novel variant of the connectivity index that we call the sum-connectivity index. This is the additive version of the connectivity index introduced in 1975 by Milan Randić. Initially the Randić index has been introduced as a structural descriptor called branching index that later became well-known Randić connectivity index, thus far the most used molecular descriptor in the QSPR and QSAR modeling. The name connectivity index that replaced the original Randić term the branching index has been suggested by Kier as stated by Randić. The first paper in which the Randić connectivity index was used in QSAR appeared soon after the initial publication, also in 1975. The mathematical properties of the Randić connectivity index have also been studied as summarized in two recent monographs.
