The statistical analysis of wet and dry days by binary DARMA(1, 1) model in Zagreb, Croatia.
In this work the Discrete Autoregressive Moving Average model (DARMA(1, 1)) is used to describe the wet-dry day sequences in Zagreb, Croatian inland. Dryness or wetness of a time period (e.g.month) can be determined using daily precipitation data. Nevertheless, in some cases these estimates may give wrong impression, so monitoring the number of wet and dry days is important as well. The daily precipitation data from the meteorological station Zagreb-Grič (φ=45°49´, λ=15°59´) during the 1948-2000. period is used. Since the year 2003 is marked as very dry and in the year 2005 there where many floods in Croatia, those two years will be analysed as particular cases.
