Danilo Kiš, Imre Kertész, and the Myth of the Holocaust
The paper is dealing with the way central-european writers Imre Kertesz and Danilo Kiš are related to the Myth of the Holocaust in their works, the way they are requestioning it and the common points in their approach. The paper starts with the definition of the term Myth of the Holocaust and explanation of the connotations of introducing such term. Exploring the works by Imre Kertész and Danilo Kiš dealing with the topic of Holocaust and researching the common points in their approach, special attention is given to the works by Yugoslav writter Danilo Kiš considering importance of his work for the Yugoslav literature and influence of his work on Central European literature. Althrough the two writers are having similar background, coming from socialist countries with similar attitude towards Holocaust, and have published their basic Holocaust books in the same period of time, in 1970s, the relation of their literature was not frequently investigated. Therefore hereby I would like to explore what are the common points in works by Imre Kertész and Danilo Kiš dealing with the topic of Holocaust, in what way they are approaching to this topic and what is their relation to the Myth of the Holocaust.
