Influence of Time Gap between Impact Loads on Torsional Dynamics of Generator Units

The paper analyzes the dynamics of generator units during the start-up of induction motor drives. A unique mathematical model of integral motor drives has been developed consisting of a diesel machine, a synchronous generator, and three non-regulated motor drives fed directly from generator unit terminals. The aim of this paper is to analyze the influence of time gap between starting moments of induction motors on the dynamics of diesel generator units. The mechanical system of a diesel machine generator set is modeled as a rotating system with two concentrated masses connected with an elastic coupling. The main objective of this paper is to take this elastic coupling into consideration and analyze torsional dynamics in the coupling.
