Heavy metals in alluvial sediments of the Drava River
Conclusions The entire studied area of about 130 km2 is, according to Slovenian and Croatian law, critically polluted with heavy metals, especially zinc. According to the results, a project of sampling and analyzing recent alluvial sediments along the flow of the Drava River will be launched, which will include the entire area from the Drava River spring to its mouth into the Danube River (Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia). The next step of our geochemical investigation in this region in the near future will be the sampling of soil profiles for the determination of the vertical distribution of heavy metals in the sediment and soil and consideration of the depth of anthropogenic influence will be carried out. The results will be used in the generation of 3D models and the calculation of the amount of heavy metals in the soil.
