Models of E-Business in Insurance Industry in Croatia
Insurance companies in Croatia have always followed the development of information technology and invested plenty of money in its business application. Electronic business is interesting to insurers from marketing aspect, as well as from business aspect. Expansion of insurance business to ex-Yugoslavian markets requires new publicity channels, which are in many ways easier because of Internet. Insurance brokers also advertise and offer their services on the Internet. Banks, by means of e-banking, offer packages of banking services that often include insurance policies. This paper presents e-business models used in insurance industry. There are no statistical data on the impact of e-business on insurance business in Croatia, nor the government monitors them. Therefore the data used in this paper were collected from the Internet during March-April 2005. Based on the collected data, business processes in insurance performed by means of e-business are analyzed, and quality and efficiency of implemented models are reviewed. Also, the author suggests directions for further development of e-business in Croatian insurance industry.
