Orešac - Dvorina
Research that took place in 2008 at the Roman period site Dvorina in Orešac was the continuation of excavation works in a probe from 2007. The probe was expanded southward and a surface of 40 m² was excavated. Several layers and burial grounds from Antiquity were researched whose context was difficult to determine since only a small surface had been covered. In the sections that were researched a large amount of various kinds of Roman pottery were found. Coarse household pottery prevailed, but other kinds of pottery and terra sigillata also appeared. Pottery used for construction (tubuli, imbrices and tegulae) was also found. Glass objects were found, for the most part fragments of various vessels. Several fragments of glass bracelets and beads were found. Bone finds were represented only by one bone token. Token made of stone and clay were also found, together with whetstones and grindstones. Dross was found in greater amount in the expanded part of the probe then in the part excavated in 2007. Several fragments of sintered bricks (sintered on one side only) were found, which probably once formed a furnace. Large amounts of dross and furnace fragments spoke in favour of metallurgical activity in antique Orešac.
