Voćin – crkva Pohođenja Blažene Djevice Marije
conducted at the site Voćin - Church of the Visitation of Blessed Virgin Mary. The excavation was conducted at the surface of 60 m², inside the room northern of the church bell tower, in the eastern part of the monastery. The most important find of the campaign was the Gothic floor decorated with a motive consisting of red, blue and white rhombs made by adding colour to the polished surface of the lime floor. The objects that were found in the layers above the Gothic floor did not unravel the character of the room itself. For the most part these were pottery finds from the medieval period and from the period of Turkish invasion. Still, the existence of the apse at the eastern side, the fact that the room had only been connected to the bell tower, and the existence of a wash basin, all indicated that this had been a chapel once. The remains of soot on the floor and on the walls, historical data and archaeological finds pointed to the fact that this chapel could have been damaged during the period of the Turkish invasion and that it had not been restored subsequently.
