Interelationship between balance and efficiency in dance
In compliance with the factor structure of the efficiency in dance as well as on the basis of previous research (Oreb, 1989 ; Oreb, 1992 ; Oreb & Marušić, 1994 ; Brkić, 1997), it has been posited that balance is a relevant factor in the efficiency of dance. To test this claim, the authors have for the first time applied a balance platform on which three static balance tests were performed by 123 students of the Faculty of Kinesiology, who have passed the practical part of the examination in the subject Dance (folk and social dances). Correlation analysis was used to determine that there was no statistically significant correlation between any of the three balance tests on the one hand and success in this examination on the other. The authors are of the opinion that the absence of correlation is the result of the motor-related selection of the subjects and of the dance-specific teaching and learning methods.
