The necessity of quality partnership for continuity in the upbringing-educational process
Although legal and other acts which regulate the practice of the institutions of early childhood, preschool and elementary school education view parents as equal partners in the upbringing- educational process, in pedagogical practice we rarely encounter confirmation of this. Over the last twenty years, upbringing- educational institutions have commenced their transformation into communities which learn. They have also have paid considerably more attention to parents in an attempt to encourage them to participate. However, preschool and elementary school educators often feel they are not competent enough to build a quality partnership-like relationship with parents. Furthermore, quality collaborative relations among institutions like, for example, kindergartens and elementary schools are in principle isolated examples. The non-existence of partnership like relations on the level of family-kindergarten-school has resulted in discontinuity in the upbringing educational process. Therefore, the transfer from one system to another is a stressful experience for children, their parents and for preschool and elementary school educators.
