Information-communication tehnologies in biology teaching: present states and possibilities
The rapid development of scientific concepts has been accompanied by the development of the need for changes in education. These changes should provide each individual with the knowledge of how to learn to know, to do, i.e. to live in accordance with the current changes. It is precisely biology education, education about life, education through life and education for life that play an important role in making an individual ready for taking responsible action within a society. Beside basic biology knowledge, this education needs to provide training in the implementation of the acquired knowledges, scientific procedures and principles, i.e. training for successful involvement in diversified activities related to improvement in the quality of life. Therefore, it is neccessary for biology teaching to be organized in such a way as to enable learners to learn how to look for and apply their own and other information as well as to learn how to research and solve problems. As modern technologies represent an inexhaustible source of information and contribute to better understanding of teaching contents, research was conducted with the aim of analysing the way in which biology teaching was organized in high schools. We expected the results of the research to contribute to the critical analysis of the teaching of biology as well as to designing teaching scenarios in accordance with modern social requirements. / Usporedo s naglim razvojem znanstvenih spoznaja razvija se i potreba za promjenama u obrazovanju koje treba svakog pojedinca osposobiti da bi mogao: učiti znati, učiti činiti, odnosno učiti živjeti u skladu s promjenama. Upravo biološko obrazovanje, obrazovanje o životu, obrazovanje kroz život i obrazovanje za život, ima važnu ulogu u razvijanju pojedinca spremnog za odgovorno djelovanje u društvu. Ono treba pružiti, osim temeljnih bioloških znanja, osposobljavanje za uporabu usvojenih znanja, znanstvenih postupaka i načela, odnosno osposobljavanje za uspješno uključivanje u različite djelatnosti unaprjeđivanja života. Stoga je nužno nastavu biologije ustrojiti na način da učenik uči samostalno pronalaziti i primjenjivati informacije, istraživati i rješavati probleme. Kako suvremene tehnologije pružaju nepresušan izvor informacija i pridonose boljem razumijevanju nastavnih sadržaja, provedeno je istraživanje s ciljem utvrđivanja kako je organizirana nastava biologije u srednjim školama. Rezultati istraživanja mogu poslužiti u kritičkom promišljanju nastave biologije i osmišljavanju nastavnih scenarija u skladu sa zahtjevima suvremenog društva.
