Our investigations in the field of psoriasis immunopathogenesis
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory immune-mediated disease characterized by hyperproliferation and aberrant differentiation of keratinocytes. It is also a complex genetic disorder influenced by multiple genes identified at different chromosomal loci. In a genetically predisposed individual, psoriasis seems to develop as a result of the interplay between cells and mediators of the innate and adaptive immune system. Further on, we shall highlight our 10-years investigation in the field of psoriasis immunogenetics particularly the role of HLA susceptibility genes as well as the significance of different cytolytic mechanisms in the immunopathogenesis of psoriasis.
