Stability of agronomic traits in sugar beet hybrids

For achievement of maximum yield, it is needed to use a high yielding and quality genotipe which will kept high production values in different climatic and soil conditions. Due to evaluation of genotype (G) and environmental (E) effects, and their interactions, in the fields experiments in 1996 and 1997 year, on the three location (Osijek, Đakovo, Magadenovac) have been tested production values of the 17 sugar beet genotypes (hybrids). After analysis of variance, on the level of tested years and combined analysis of variance by localities, established differences among environments, genotypes and their interactions had a significant influence on the yield of investigated traits, and therefore a stability analysis was done by estimation of stabiliy parameters. By biometrical methods are estimated: ecovalence (Wi), coefficient of regression (bi) and deviation mean squares (s2di). On basis of the estimated stability parameters, on two-year level, the genotypes of high yield stability were: for root yield - Kristal, Jela and Rita; sugar content - Os Ana, Kawemaja, Marika and Jela; sugar recovery - Dunja, Jela, Kristal and Marika; and for white sugar yield - Jela, Barbara, Dunja and Kristal. By comparison of investigated traits mains and stability parameters, it is obviously that genotypes with the highest yield, regardless of investigated trait, have not a high yield stability. Correlation coefficients (r), for root and white sugar yield, show existence of high significant correlation among mean and bi, and among s2di and Wi. For sugar content is established a significant correlation among mean and s2di and in sugar recovery among s2di and Wi.
