Micro-Raman Spectroscopy of poly(dimethylsiloxane) ZnO nanocomposites
The structure and vibrational dynamics of ZnO-PDMS nanocomposites was investigated by micro-Raman and FTIR spectroscopy. ZnO-PDMS nanocomposites were prepared with different fractions of ZnO nanoparticles (1, 5, 10 and 20%). The vibrational spectra were analysed using density functional theory (DFT). The calculations were carried out by the Gaussian 03 suite of programs using Becke´s three-parameter exchange functional in combination with the Lee-Young-Parr correlation functional (B3-LYP) and standard 6-31G(d, p) basis set. Changes in vibrational spectra of PDMS due to the inclusion of different fraction of ZnO nanoparticles were used to explain the interaction in the interface.
