Sustainability Within Non-technical Field of Engineering Education
The article deals with the ways in which sustainability as a part of broader non-technical field in engineering education is to be embedded into development of individual professional identity and responsible professional practice. Considering that environmental degradation is closely related to degradation of present social structure, recent and dominant solutions – occupied mostly by technical control programs – remain insufficient. All actors interested in development of academic engineering curriculum – educators, employers, scientists and students – claim for more non-technical courses and themes in educational process. While their agreement is clear at declarative level, implementation experiences imply significant difficulties.
