Safety and survival at sea are the consequence of a detailed and diverse range of factors: • the human element - the experience of the individual • the tasks being undertaken • the environment in which they are being undertaken • the available equipment. The training appropriate actions to take in emergency can improve safety and survival during emergency. Crews who serve on board modern ships must have technical knowledge of highest standards to enable them to operate complicated machinery correctly. They must be able to operate their ship efficiently and safely.
