Functionally Designed Summer Protective Female Headwear
Present-day need for effective personal protection against the harmful impact of sunlight can be provided by protective textiles. Sumer protective headwear should be constructed in such way that they shade the face and neck as much as possible. Application of multilayer construction increases reflected and scattered part of incident ultraviolet (UV) radiation light between fabrics layers and UV absorption. Usage of folded fabrics increases UV reflection and reduces the fabric direct contact with skin. Made of UV-resist, breathable, water- and oil- repellant fabrics, except UV protection, female hats should also fulfill requirements regarding their exposure to different weather conditions and insure good air permeability. Undyed cotton and white polyester woven fabrics nanofunctionalized with rutile TiO2 nanoparticles incorporated in fluorocarbon finish were purposefully prepared. Functionally designed fabrics applicability for making protective female headwear was evaluated by determination of their functional properties and durability after three month outdoor exposure. Female hat with functionally designed cap of stepped multilayered structure with folded veil – purposely designed and constructed to increase UV protection efficiency is presented.
