Thin-walled beam element for analysis of large displacement problems
This paper deals with large displacement problems of thin-walled beam-type structures using finite method and updated Lagrangian approach. For a thin-walled beam element with unsymmetrical cross-section, the elastic stiffness matrix and geometric stiffness matrix are calculated. The improved displacement field is introduced by the inclusion of second-order terms of large rotations and the potential energy corresponding to the semitangential moments is derived. In a case of stability problems numerical results obtained by load-deflection manner is compared with that of eigenvalue type.
