Reference intervals of 56 haematological and biochemical constituents of blood and serum for reference individuals corresponding to "reference state" - population of Zagreb, Croatia

On the basis of the concept of „reference state“ 177 persons of „ideal“ health status, aged 20-30 years, were selected according to strictly defined criteria in order to assure the least biological variability. Reference intervals for 56 biochemical and haematological constituents of blood and serum were produced for this group of persons and presented as 0, 025 – 0, 500 – 0, 975 fractiles of non-parametric distribution. The obtained reference intervals corresponding to „reference state“ for the healthy population of Zagreb and its surroundings, Croatia, are produced in order to facilitate comparison studies of population-based reference intervals between various populations and to help better understanding of their biological variabilities.
