The influence of structure and microstructure on soft-magnetic properties of FeCuNbSiB alloys

In the present work special attention was done to give the insight into the influence of the thermal annealing on the microstructure of the amorphous to nanocrystalline phase transition in FeCuNbSiB rapidly quenched soft magnetic alloys as seen by XRD, TEM, HREM, ED, STM (Scanning tunnelling microscope) but correlated to DSC and magnetic weight measurements (TGA). Two alloys Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 and Fe77.5Cu1Nb3Si9.5B9 having different annealing treatment were investigated. The magnetic softness of these nanocrystalline alloys has been explained by the reduced apparent anisotropy originating from the small grain sizes and thus the nanostructural formation mechanism has become one of the most important subjects in these alloy systems. It appears that the grain size measurements of the nanocrystalline magnetic phases that precipitated from amorphous phase are very important as well as the determination of corresponding phases.
