Interactive Fine Adjustment Of Gamma-Variate Fit For Cardiac Shunt Calculation
Shunt calculation for some patients (or acquired data sets) using standard commercial nuclear medicine software packages is difficult or unacceptable. This is especially true for the recirculation part of the pulmonary time-activity curve. Very often there are not enough data points to adequately describe down slope portion of a curve. Hence, we have developed our own interactive computer program that gives us full control over the 5-parameters gamma-variate fitting function. First step: usual least-squares fit is performed. Second step (if fit is not OK): 4-parameters that define gamma-variate function are calculated from the three interactively defined virtual points that has to lie on that fitting curve we are seeking for. These points are: (t0, 0), (tmax, ymax), (t2, y2) ; point 2 is on the down slope. They uniquely define function curve. Points are interactively adjusted until satisfactory fit is achieved. Acquired patient study is exported to DICOM and then analyzed over the network with our NUK software package.
