Vegetative propagation of everlasting – Helichrysum italicum (Roth) G. Don

Helichrysum italicum (Roth) G. Don (everlasting) is aromatic small shrub that spontaneously grows in Mediterranean, where it is harvested from nature for industry. There is a need of establishing plantations with selected and uniform plants. Possibility of vegetative propagation of Helichrysum italicum (Roth) G. Don by stem cuttings was examined under „mist“ in perlite as a substrate. Woody cuttings with three treatments of hormone IBA (1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, 2000 ppm), and semiwoody and green cuttings treated with 1000 ppm of IBA were evaluated by measuring the percentage of rooted plants, the number of roots and the length of the longest root and compared to control (untreated woody cuttings). The woody cuttings treated with 2000 ppm of IBA gave the best results when taking in account all three parameters.
