Technological aspects of quality of education for sustainable development
The paper emphasises that transformation and modernisation of teacher education curricula should not be possible without the inclusion of the basic indicators of education quality recommended by the EU. One of them is the introduction of ICT in the curricula for sustainable development. Due to ICT, the demands placed on education have changed. The learning process has increasingly become a computer-communication process, and therefore the author’s interest is focused on conceptual issues of education for sustainable development and interpretation of its various aspects, with special emphasis on teachers' competences for teaching the values of sustainable development. The paper presents the results of an empirical research of students' attitudes towards technological aspects of sustainability and the way in which ICT has contributed to the quality of higher education. The research findings are based on data collected on a sample of full-time and part-time students of teacher education studies at the University of Pula and University of Rijeka, as well as of the faculty of economics and tourism at the University of Pula in the academic year 2009/2010.
