Electron Efficiency Measurement from 7 TeV Data
Results on the measurement of the electron reconstruction efficiency in the CMS experiment are presented. The analysis makes use of the 2010 data collected at the LHC at a centre-of- mass energy of $\sqrt{; ; s}; ; _{; ; pp}; ; = 7~$TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $\ensuremath{; ; {; ; \cal L}; ; _{; ; \mathrm{; ; int}; ; }; ; }; ; \sim 36~ \ensuremath{; ; \mathrm{; ; pb^{; ; - 1}; ; }; ; }; ; $. Electron/photon triggered events and a tag-and-probe selection exploiting the Z mass constraint are used to measure the reconstruction efficiency for prompt and isolated electrons in the $p_{; ; T}; ; $ region beyond 20~GeV/c. Selection effects as well as various choices for the signal count and background subtraction are investigated and the results are compared. Efficiency results are finally obtained from simultaneous fits of passing and failing samples, integrated over the whole $\eta$ range as well as in several $\eta$ bins.
