Anthropological features of the East European region

This paper presents the allele frequencies of some of the HLA class I and HLA class II loci in Austrian, Croatian (the island of Krk and the island of Hvar), Czechish, Gypsy, Finnish, Hungarian, Latvian, Romanian, Slovenian and Polish populations. Some Class I and Class II alleles were consistently frequent or infrequent in the investigated populations. Each of the East European population is at the extreme end of variation in mutual comparisons of HLA gene and haplotype frequencies.
