Overall efficiency of the old and modern Stirling engines
During the course of the last century, Stirling engines were fired by the most different fuels like wood, coal or gas. Corresponding fuel consumption can be found in the literature sources from the end of the last century, as well as in instruction booklet of the hot air engines. On the basis of the published data, overall efficiency is calculated and compared to the modern engines. From the final results it could be recognized that contemporary efforts did not succeed to increase efficiency to desired level, as could be expected at the first sight.
