Role of IT in Managing Construction Companies in Transition Economies

The paper describes the role of information technology in Croatian construction companies during economic transition. Croatia can be taken as a good example for analysis as a country in transition. Changes that have the most influence on businesses in transition are described. Relevant figures showing important construction industry data are included. The role of IT in the transition process is analyzed through results of the research project “Development and Applications of IT in Croatian Construction Industry”. The paper particularly deals with results of a survey of chosen construction companies and professionals in construction businesses. The goal of the research was to gather information on the present condition and view that key professionals have on that subject. This research has particularly expressed the role of modern information technology (IT) and education of young management staff on how to use IT in construction company management.
