Equia versus amalgam
Since nineteenth century, one of the materials that has been traditionally used for tooth restoration in posterior region is amalgam. Amalgam has been used as a material for filling according to the classic macro-retentive principles of Black.Improvements in the properties of glass ionomer materials have made them a new choice for final coronal aesthetic restoration. Equia system (GC, Japan), includes Fuji IX GP Extra and G-Coat Plus and, according to the manufacturer, is the first glass ionomer-based material that can be used for permanent posterior restorations involving load-bearing occlusal sufraces.
