Sigificance of the lymphoepithelial lesions and lymphoid follicles in Helicobacter pylori gastritis
Helicobacter pylori was associated with occurence of lymphoid follicles (LF) and lymphoepithelial lesions (LEL) but larger quantity does not necessarily mean worse morphological appearance. Similarly we could not bring in connection the values of CagA with formation of LEL. After HP erradication withdrawal of LF as well as LF with LEL was equally observed. No monoclonal lymphocitic proliferation was found in group 1, not in the first or control biopsies. In the group 2 of patients (LF with LEL), by ISH the B-lymphocites were policlonal, however in 2 patients in the first biopsy the clonal proliferation was found by PCR. This indicates that those patients require more frequent follow-up since it can be assumed that the monoclonal clone despite HP eradication still persists.
