A cognitive-linguistic approach to the translation of metaphor from English into Croatian

Conceptual metaphor theory is applied to a research on metaphor translation. A comparative analysis of three Croatian TTs of the ST "The Picture of Dorian Gray" is carried out. A new typology of translation procedures is proposed. An attempt is made at accounting for motivation for and the effect of using a particular procedure.
