Experimental detection of added mass of the beam partially immersed in a fluid using the system properties and expanded mode shape

The scope of this experimental study is to determine the local added mass. This is the amount of mass that should be added to the beam in order to get the same effect as in the fluid. This mass is added only to the submerged part of the beam. The method applied in this paper is based on the detection of structural changes using the finite element model. First, the method is applied to numerical simulation and then the model is validated, and at the end the method is applied to the experimental model in order to obtain local added mass from the measured data.
