Component development approach for Android

Android makes the use of components, in order to solve some larger problem, possible in several different ways. This paper will focus on the use of JAR's. With them, one can pack repeating structure into a component reusable for future projects. Due to specific architecture of Android operating system it was not practical to use the Java virtual machine, so another one was created, one that was tailored for mobile environment – Dalvik virtual machine. Different virtual machine also means that JAR components are slightly different from the ones for conventional Java virtual machine. Android distinguishes two types of JAR files. Ones used in design time and ones used in runtime. This paper is divided into three sections. The first one explains Android application execution and the component approach. The second part explains in more detail the JAR types, while the third unit is focused on the practical example which how to use two different JAR types for Android.
