Anthropodynamic and harmonic analysis of the human head and neck

Background and purpose: The purpose of this work was to investigate some biomechanical ideas on human head and neck movements by analysing the principal dynamic movements of inertia for developed model of the head and neck. Materials and methods: By means of the harmonic analysis combined with eight canon, we defined dimension of our model for different statisticaly distributed males and females subject. Using the theorem of parallel dislocation of the inertial axes, were determinated the values of principal moments of inertia for referent coordinate system. Results:The results are comparable with results of other authors. However, the study revealed certain significant differences from values obtained in literature. Results of calculated dynamic moments of inertia were separated into the percentile agoups for both a male and female group. Conclusion: The study offers a new model for calculating dynamic moments of inertia of the head and neck for males and females, with regard to the chosen principal axes of inertia, with origin in the tenth rib mindspine and sescond cervical, then horizontal axes passing supersternal seam.
