Microstructure of CuAlNi shape memory alloy after continuous casting
In this work the microstructure analysis of CuAlNi shape memory alloy was performed. For production of the Cu-Al-Ni shape memory alloy the continuous casting technique directly from the melt was used. By this technique the bar with diameter of 8 mm was manufactured. The microstructure characterization of cast bar was carried out after solidification by optic microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The martensite phase primary as the needle-like into grains was observed. Martensite laths have different orientations into particular grains. It was found that average grains size was 98.78 m. The grain diameter near to the external surface is higher than into the center.
