New aspects of direct geothermal use in Croatia
New aspects of geothermal energy use are based upon the techno-economical analysis provided for all the fields in Croatia. The main purpose is to show possible increase and cost of direct geothermal energy production. Geothermal reservoirs can be generally classified in two groups, according to the temperatures of geothermal water. The first group, having temperature less than 100oC, is suitable for the direct energy use. In the second group with temperature above the 100oC, except of the direct use, the electricity can be produced as well. Nevertheless, in this analysis high temperature resources are included only in direct use. Alltogether there are 28 reservoirs in Croatia. A few of them have been exploited, although the percentage of utilization of their available power is still very small. Improvement of such a condition can be significant for the future economic development of certain regions in Croatia. Therefore, this analysis is esspetially aimed to the potential users, showing new aspects of power and prices of direct geothermal energy use.
