In search of an open-source LMS solution for higher education using a criterion-based approach
Learning management systems (LMS) have solved many issues with transferring traditionally taught courses to an online environment. Today, LMSs are an important part of universities world-wide, whether they are an addition to traditional classes or a platform for online courses. With the growing number of LMSs offered on the market, it is difficult to decide on a system that would satisfy the specific needs of an organisation. This paper proposes criteria which should be considered before selecting an LMS and shows results of comparisons of evaluated open-source LMSs, pointing out the advantages and limitations of each.
